[Epub] ❧ Healing Our Violence through the Journey of Centering Prayer By Richard Rohr – Web-info-12.info
This book was not at all what I expected It was like a conference or a sermon A few highlights to consider reconnecting with being, immorality is a great gateway to holiness, we come to God not by doing it right but by doing it wrong, interrupt your psychological awareness by closing your eyes There are several different people speaking on the perspective of healing the violence from within and on finding this through a closeness with God One of my most favorite points made was that we cannot be friends with someone or something that wants to punish us for being human We cannot be best friends with someone or something we are afraid of Why would we ever be in fear of something that loves us that much We don t have to go to an island or the Swiss Alps to find it, this is something that we can find inside of ourselves right where we re standing No matter where we go on this earth, if we cannot find this connection within ourselves where we are, we will be taking that same energy and the lack of connection with us wherever we go This book may not be for everyone however if you respond well to healing through conversation around scripture, this may be the book for you Very insightful, and humorous at times. An outstanding exploration of contemplative prayer and the heart of all traditions Loved it I ve been reading Rohr s books and listening to his lectures for years His teachings, explanations, conclusions, etc have utterly transformed my understanding of the God, Christianity, the purpose of our lives, and the twists and turns of the spiritual journey I read Fr Keating s Open Heart Open Mind years ago and was blown away I still revisit this book from time to time Every time I do I come away with new gold nuggets I had never heard Fr Keating speak before His teachings in the lectures Healing Our Violence through the Journey of Centering Prayer are definitely on par with Rohr s This was a wonderful surprise I will be looking for other audio lectures featuring Fr Keating. Enlightening and challenging A worthwhile trip into hope. No sugar coating our path to transformation.Healing happens first within you One cannot go out and be a source of healing to another unless one first looks within Only then can our true self surface.Richard Rohr and Thomas Keating help us name our demons The only problem is as Christians we pretty much believe that we don t have any demons and that fact in itself is demonic. The next demon is believing that you have conquered them and you are on your way to transformation But, in reality one goes one step forward and two steps backwards Okay, you say enough already This is like dancing a tango and you are right So what do we do with this dilemma Thomas Keating and Richard Rohr give us the understanding that accepting our demons, looking at them and letting them go one at a time is the path to recovery Accepting the fact that we don t have it all together, helps us heal faster and go on with our relationships and healing the world, one person at a time beginning with myself.Does this sound too narcissistic or ego related Well, it is, at first You have to discover that part of yourself to move beyond The false self Your true self is buried deep within and you have the power to dig it out The Divine within has always been there from the moment of conception but we have spent a lifetime burying that innocence.
